The SDSU Track and Field team won the MW Indoor Championships in February, but weren’t satisfied with just one trophy.

The San Diego State track and field team won the Mountain West Indoor Championships in February, but that wasn’t enough.

The Aztecs wanted more.

As a school, San Diego State won its tenth conference championship on Friday when the softball team defeated UNLV, but that also wasn’t enough.

Once again, the Aztecs wanted more.

The track and field team won the MW Outdoor Championships on Saturday, securing the 11th conference championship for San Diego State during the 2012-13 academic school year.

As if raising another trophy wasn’t enough, the Aztecs earned some conference honors as well. Head coach Shelia Burrell was named the Women’s Coach of the Year, and junior Allison Reaser was named the meet’s Most Outstanding Performer.

Freshman LaQuisha Jackson won the 100 meters and 200 meters. Other individual winners included Reaser (100 hurdles), senior Deyna Roberson (400 hurdles) and junior ShaniekaThomas (triple jump). Jackson, Roberson, Thomas and junior Maderia Toatley also placed first in the 4×400-meter relay.

You didn’t think we were done, did you?

The San Diego State softball team defeated UNLV 7-0 on Friday, clinching the Mountain West title and bringing the school’s 2012-13 total to 10 conference championships.

Many were impressed by the statistics in the #SDSUisWinning article, which stated that the Aztecs had won nine conference championships in current academic year.

It also stated that there was potential for more.

SDSU proved that on Friday, shutting out the Rebels and winning its second straight MW championship. Freshmen phenom Danielle O’Toole pitched six scoreless innings and junior Lorena Bauer went 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Aztecs.

With the victory, San Diego State earned the league’s automatic bid for the NCAA tournament, which begins on May 16. Be sure to tune in to the NCAA Division 1 Softball Championship Selection Show on May 12 to find out what seed the Aztecs receive and who they will face.
