Day 2

Just got settled in at home after a long day. Today was our first practice, and it went pretty well. We were just in helmets today, and it’s tough to play football without shoulder pads, but I think we handled it well.

Coach Long stressed before practice how championship-caliber teams still have great practices even without the pads, and that average teams don’t know how to do so. It’s very important that we can still practice at a high tempo and improve even when we aren’t in full pads.

Today was a big day for media. There was a press conference in the early afternoon, and some video interviews with a few players after practice. Make sure to check out all those videos! I’ll post those at the bottom of the page.

Also, be sure to check out the first of the Meet the Aztecs Q&A’s with freshman defensive end Dan Kottman. You can find that here.

That’s it for tonight. It’s getting late and I’m ready to get to bed soon. Stay tuned tomorrow for the second Q&A post, it will be on freshman defensive lineman Teddy Queen.

Checking in on Day 2

Hello Aztec fans!

I’m checking in for now while I have a little down time before we get back into meetings and practice. Today has been a good day so far, but it will get even better once we hit the field for practice this evening.

I published the first Q&A piece on defensive end Dan Kottman, be sure to check it out! This is the first of a series of Q&A’s with the 2012 signing class, and these will give readers a chance to meet some of the new Aztecs. The first Q&A piece can be found in the Future Aztec Warriors section, or by clicking here.

I will check in later today after meetings and practice. In the mean time, here’s a cool new video of my fellow teammate Gavin Escobar and his highlights from the 2011 season. If you’re wondering about the song selection, it’s because his sister created the video!

Day 1

After a long day of meetings and other administrative activities, we are done with Day 1.

Day 1 is always a tough day. We are all itching to get on the field and hit the ground running, but first we have to sit through compliance meetings, fill out paperwork, and get settled in.

Now that it’s over, we can all rest up and get ready for our first practice tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also when the true camp grind begins. Starting tomorrow, every day is completely focused on football. Whether we are on the field, in the weight room, in the training room, or in the meeting room, we are eating, sleeping, and breathing football. Off time is very limited.

We are ready for this grind, because we know that we have to put in the hard work to see the results once the season rolls around.

Now that the day is over, it’s time to eat some food, relax, and get mentally prepared for tomorrow. Physically, we are all ready to go. We put in a lot of hard work over the summer, and we feel that we are bigger, faster, and stronger than ever. Now is when the mental preparation becomes vital to our success.

I hope all the Aztec fans out there are getting prepared too. Your support is a big part of our success. 27 days until the season opener!

I’ll leave everybody with this, a picture of the new 2012 SDSU football poster.
