Aztecs in the NFL: Week 11

LB Russell Allen – Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans
In an offensive showdown that saw nearly 1,100 yards of total offense, the Jaguars lost to the Texans in overtime, 43-37. Allen was all over the field on defense, recording 15 total tackles. He now ranks fifth in the league with 67 solo tackles and is tied for eighth with 85 total tackles.

LB Antwan Applewhite – Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Panthers fell to the Buccaneers, 27-21. Applewhite was inactive for the fourth straight week after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7. His status for Week 12 is uncertain.

LS Aaron Brewer – Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers
The Broncos continued their strong play and won their fifth straight game as they defeated the Chargers, 30-23. Brewer remained solid with his snapping duties, helping the special teams unit make three field goals and punt five times for an average of 50.4 yards per punt.

WR Vincent Brown – San Diego Chargers vs. Denver Broncos
Brown remains out with an ankle injury suffered in the preseason. It was reported last week that he was running once again and is making progress, but there is no clear timetable on his return.

LB Miles Burris – Oakland Raiders vs. New Orleans Saints
Without star running back Darren McFadden for the second straight week, the injury-depleted Raiders could not handle the high-powered offense of the Saints, and lost 38-17. Burris, however, had an impressive outing on the defensive side of the ball with eight total tackles.

OT/OG Brandyn Dombrowski – San Diego Chargers vs. Denver Broncos
Dombrowski returned to practice two weeks ago after sitting out with a foot injury, but it is still uncertain if he will see any game action this season.

LB Heath Farwell – Seattle Seahawks, BYE

RB Ronnie Hillman – Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers
After an injury to starting running back Willis McGahee, Hillman came in and helped the Broncos take down the struggling Chargers. He had 12 carries for 43 yards and two catches for 16 yards. He will likely start at running back next week, as McGahee is expected to be out 6-8 weeks.

QB Ryan Lindley – Arizona Cardinals vs. Atlanta Falcons
After a shaky start by John Skelton, Cardinals’ head coach Ken Whisenhunt gave Lindley a chance to take over under center. Lindley, who had to battle back from a questionable fumble call that resulted in a Falcons touchdown, was 9-20 for 64 yards in his first-ever NFL action. In a game that went down to the final minutes, the Cardinals lost to the Falcons, 23-19. It has not yet been decided who will start at quarterback next week, but it seems likely that Lindley is now the guy in Arizona.

OG Lance Louis – Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers
In the battle of backup quarterbacks, Jason Campbell and the Bears lost to Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers on Monday night, 32-7. Louis and his offensive lineman had their hands full with the 49ers’ pass rushers, and the Bears’ record dropped to 7-3.

LB Kirk Morrison – Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
The Bills defeated the Dolphins, 19-14, but Morrison was inactive once again. He has yet to see any game action this season.

WR Kassim Osgood – Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers
In a heated division battle, the Lions fell to the Packers, 24-20. Osgood continues to play on special teams but did not record any tackles in the game.

WR Chaz Schilens – New York Jets vs. St. Louis Rams
The Jets beat the Rams on Sunday, 27-13, and Schilens had a solid game. He hauled in four catches for 48 yards and one touchdown. It was his second touchdown of the season and ninth of his career.

Aztecs in the NFL: Week 8

LB Russell Allen – Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Green Bay Packers
In their first game since losing star running back Maurice Jones-Drew, the Jaguars fell to the Packers, 24-15. Allen had a strong outing with seven total tackles and a pass deflection, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Packers, who won their third straight game.

LB Antwan Applewhite – Carolina Panthers vs. Chicaco Bears
Applewhite was inactive in Week 8 after injuring his leg the week prior. The Panthers suffered a tough loss, 23-22, after a last-second field goal by the Bears. Applewhite’s status for next week is uncertain.

LS Aaron Brewer – Denver Broncos vs. New Orleans Saints
In the Sunday night game, the Broncos dominated the Saints, 34-14. Brewer snapped the ball well on punts and field goals, and even recorded his first tackle of the season while covering a punt.

WR Vincent Brown – San Diego Chargers vs. Cleveland Browns
In a low-scoring defensive battle, the Chargers lost to the Browns, 7-6. Brown remains out with an ankle injury suffered in the preseason, and his recovery has taken longer than expected. According to an article by CBS Sports, Brown is likely to sit out another month.

LB Miles Burris – Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs
In an AFC West matchup, the Raiders defeated the Chiefs on Sunday, 26-16. Burris had another solid outing, as he recorded seven tackles, good for second-most on the team.

OT/OG Brandyn Dombrowski – San Diego Chargers vs. Cleveland Browns
Dombrowski remains out with a foot injury, and his return this season is unlikely. It was recently reported by CBS Sports that he is recovering from a cyst on his foot, and his chances of playing this season are slim.

LB Heath Farwell – Seattle Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions
The Seahawks were beat by the Lions on Sunday, 28-24. For just the second time this season, Farwell failed to record a tackle in the game.

RB Ronnie Hillman – Denver Broncos vs. New Orleans Saints
In front of a national audience in the Sunday night NFL game, Hillman had his best game yet as a Bronco. He had 14 carries for 86 yards, averaging 6.1 yards per rush. Hillman showcased his speed and ability to get to the edge even at the professional level, and proved that he can contribute as a rookie.

QB Ryan Lindley – Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Cardinals had their hands full on Monday, facing one of the most physical defenses in the league. They were held to just a field goal as quarterback John Skelton struggled to get in a rhythm against the division-rival 49ers, and lost 24-3. Lindley remains the backup, and with Skelton getting pressured and sacked often, it is very possible Lindley will see some action this season.

OG Lance Louis – Chicago Bears vs. Carolina Panthers
The Bears improved to 6-1 after beating the Panthers on a game-winning field goal, and Louis continued to play well at right guard.

LB Kirk Morrison – Buffalo Bills, BYE

WR Kassim Osgood – Detroit Lions vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Lions won in dramatic fashion on Sunday, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 20 seconds left to beat the Seahawks, 28-24. Osgood played well on special teams, recording two tackles in the game.

WR Chaz Schilens – New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
The Jets struggled on Sunday, falling to the Dolphins, 30-9. Schilens had four catches for 29 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter, the lone touchdown for the Jets. It was his first touchdown of the season, and the eighth of his career.

LB Russell Allen – Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Chicago Bears
The Jaguars suffered a tough loss and fell to the Bears, 41-3. Allen had four total tackles, three of which were solo. He is currently tied for seventh in the league with 47 total tackles this season.

LB Antwan Applewhite – Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks
After missing two weeks due to a knee injury, Applewhite was solid in his return. He recorded four total tackles, including a sack for a loss of three yards. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Panthers lost to the Seahawks, 16-12.

LS Aaron Brewer – Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots
In the battle of elite quarterbacks, Tom Brady came out on top and the Patriots knocked off the Broncos, 31-21. Brewer continued to snap well for the Broncos, as they were 3-for-3 on PATs and punted the ball three times for an average of 45.7 yards per punt.

WR Vincent Brown – San Diego Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints
The Chargers lost to the Saints, 31-24, and Brown remains out recovering from a broken ankle suffered in the preseason. In a recent update on Rotoworld, it was reported that Norv Turner said Brown was “right on schedule” in his rehabilitation. He is eligible to return to practice in Week 7.

LB Miles Burris – Oakland Raiders, BYE

OT/OG Brandyn Dombrowski – San Diego Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints
Like Brown, Dombrowski remains on the injured-reserve list with a foot injury. According to an article published by The North County Times, he is expected to return in Week 8.

LB Heath Farwell – Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers
Although Farwell didn’t match the production of his former teammate, Applewhite, it was Farwell whose team got the win. Farwell had one tackle in the game, giving him five total tackles this season.

RB Ronnie Hillman – Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots
Hillman saw a limited number of touches in the loss to the Patriots. He had three carries for 9 yards and one catch for 4 yards. He has 84 yards from scrimmage this season.

QB Ryan Lindley – Arizona Cardinals vs. St. Louis Rams
The Cardinals lost their first game of the season, as they fell to the Rams in the Thursday night game, 17-3. John Skelton was inactive, and Lindley remains as the backup quarterback behind Kevin Kolb.

OG Lance Louis – Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Louis and his fellow offensive lineman were dominant in the Bears’ blowout victory over the Jaguars. They allowed just one sack on quarterback Jay Cutler, and helped their team rush for 214 yards.

LB Kirk Morrison – Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers
Morrison was inactive once again, and the Bills were beaten by the 49ers, 45-3. Morrison has yet to record any stats this season, and it is uncertain when he will return to action.

WR Kassim Osgood – Detroit Lions, BYE

WR Chaz Schilens – New York Jets vs. Houston Texans
In the Monday night game, Schilens and the Jets came up short and were defeated by the Texans, 23-17. He had four catches for 29 yards, and nearly came up with a surprise onside kick.
